The Herefordshire & Worcestershire SEND Information, Advice and Support Service provides free, impartial, confidential, and accessible information advice and support on all matters relating to children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).

The SENDIASS team are fully trained through IPSEA in three levels of legal practice. This means that they can give you legally based information about your rights and responsibilities and those of schools, settings, colleges, the Local Authority and education professionals.

In Herefordshire SENDIASS also have a Young Persons Advisor called Sammy. Sammy’s role is to work directly with young people aged 14-25.

She can support young people by

  • Helping them to prepare for annual reviews
  • Helping them to prepare for meetings
  • explain reports
  • provide advice around the education, health and care needs assessment process
  • provide careers guidance and support in thinking about aspirations and preparing for adulthood.

SEND Summit Herefordshire

November 2019 saw our third send summit for Herefordshire. A joint meeting with parent carers and professionals to take stock of where we are at and what work is going on. General feedback we received about the event is that the new format was greatly received and had a positive vibe in the room. When all the Questions raised have been answered and the presentations available they will be added here.images)
