On Wednesday 16th September, one parent carer rep joined a webinar to find out more about Annual Health Checks for individuals with a learning disability or autism. The webinar was run by The National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) and Skills for Care and was supported by Learning Disability England (LDE) and Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG).
All children and young people aged 14 years and over with a learning disability or had autism is entitled to have an annual health check. An annual health check is:
- A visit to the GP each year
- GP Enhanced Service
- GP to check and record aspects of the person’s health
- The person or those who know them well to raise anything that is worrying them
